Steady Cam... Great build quality

Good luck with the sale! If you have trouble selling it I would suggest that you need actual footage of the stabilizer in use, rather than a 3rd person view of it in operation. It needs to be first-person.

The only way to show people it's worth $200+ is to show how smooth the footage is when using it.

Well, it did not sell. Thanks for the suggestion. I thought it would be good to see what the steady cam is doing, but I will have to put together some different video. The camera that is on the steady cam in the other videos is not a digital camera so upload is harder, but I will try to get some up.

It is ok, as people are scary, plus competition is strong.
You need some user base before they'll start going as hot cakes.
And you need anodizing or painting, as bare aluminium looks like DIY thing.
And videos must be flawless, footage and presentations.
Invest good time in both.

Since you seem like you're good with machining metal, I would suggest another product that would be useful to GH1 owners (and other cameras)...

That mounting plate looks interesting -- I've been searching for a plate which mounts on the bottom of my GH1 that has a lip on it to prevent rotation (similar to this, but much wider - http://acratech.net/product.php?productid=72), as well as having loops on each side to attach a camera strap (this is because the strap nuts on the GH1 are prone to breaking off).

It would be a plate that basically allows for mounting on other tripod release plates, but has two holes to match up with video camera release plates (preventing camera rotation).

Seems like someone with the knowledge to build this steadycam might be able to make a product like this?

Yes, it seems like good idea.
Generally it can be even better - whole "battery" grip made from piece of alu (or really tough plastic).
With all features suggested by "e-steve". Plus it'll make grip much better and increase cam weight.

Over seas shipping is no problem I just didn't know what it cost. What is the best company to ship over sea's. Also, I didn't coat the it to try to keep the cost down. But I plan to offer that in the future if they sell ok. Thanks for the comments.

I've had many, many parcels from the US shipped by USPS...insured for the more pricey stuff. Good value and reliable. Shipping by the big name couriers can be offered for buyers who are willing to pay, but try to keep shipping cost to a minimum (eg $75-85) for the average punters.

Be prepared for the odd scammer or genuine loss in transit...unfortunately Paypal will rarely take the side of the seller when things go wrong with a delivery.

Not coating to keep the cost down is false economy. There's a lot of competition so your product has to look good. Anodizing in bulk is not expensive...but the trick is to have 20 or 30 units done each time.

You're going to have to come up with some footage. It looks like a good design but smooth footage will open doors. Rent, beg or borrow a camera to demonstrate with.

Following up, I second Vitaly's suggestion for a mount for the GH1. I never use the camera strap lugs after repairing both of mine which came loose. A platform that mounts the GH1 with room for battery insertion, strap lugs and a handgrip would sell me in a minute since I've always wished the GH1 was a tad larger for my gorilla sized hands. You'll need a GH1 body to fabricate it though since it's tiny and you need to allow for battery and SD card access.
