Alright I'm debating on getting a full vest system like:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IThttp://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...7301193&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&dr_log=11818http://www.buy.com/prod/steadicam-a...r/q/listingid/45134430/loc/111/211238687.html

How well does somthing like this work compared to:

http://www.cinevate.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=143

What would give us a more steady result. WE dont want any shake. There will be alot of walking/talking scenes in thsi upcomming film. We want to mount a Matte box onto our 7D as well and of course rack focus so with all this in mind which will work best to give us the best result. I rarely see reviews /discussions on the vest systems so im trying to learn more about it.

You need a steadicam for no shake - not a shoulder mount

Different looks, for steadicam check out steadishots.org, for shoulder mount watch district nine

both have an application

THe merlin and arm is IMO a bad combination because the merlin is to light for the arm to become properly isoelalstic

You need a pilot with a vest or to go handheld only with the merlin

Adding a MB and FF wont work with the merlin - you would need a pilot (at least) for that

Of course your FF will need to be remote so think another $2k at least

I'm sorry also morgan but when you say pilot, and MB/FF what does that stand for.. its very late where i am atm and probably the reason why my brain isnt even trying to compute it but that would help.

well would you want to get the steadycam more for tracking shots and nice floating shots and a shoulder mount for handheld...? to my understanding that's the differences are but I could be wrong.

www.steadishots.org shows the look of shots done with a steadicam (by the best operators)

it does not sell product

Dsitrict Nine is a film which uses a lot of handheld

You can see the two different looks from watching

------

Matte Box

Follow Focus

The follow focus needs to be expensive and remote control because you cant touch a steadicam - it becomes unsteady when you touch it

Pilot..

'Steadicam Pilot' the cheapest proper steadicam made by Steadicam

---

I cant help with the glidecam - I dont have one - I have Merlin, Pilot and Blackbird camera stabilizers so I can comment on them with some knowledge
