Was doing a shoot in San Francisco this past week, and for the first time, I noticed a clicking sound in the audio. When I plug my external Sennhieser shotgun mic into the camera, it's gone.
Bingo!!!! It was the image stablizer, on all 3 lenses. The nosiest was my 70-200 and then the 17-55. The 18-135 was the least noticeable.
Now, here is mystery. It only makes the noise (putting your ear up to the lens with the IS on) while in the video mode. Once you take it out of the video mode, the lens doesn't make that noise.
Very interesting. Would love to know why it only does it in the video mode.
