When it comes to only SD filming to a miniDV tape, what is the image quality difference between the HVX200 and the DVX100. I would think strictly for SD filming, they would be virtually identifcal unless the HVX200 has a much better lens and greater color range. I also read somewhere that the OIS in the HVX200 is better than the DVX100B... is it? Any info you have or links comparing these two cameras - specially for SD filming (not HD) would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I shot the HVX200 and DVX100a side by side in DV. The HVX image was sharper, originating in HD, but the DVX produced a more beautiful image and seemed to be more light sensitive than the HVX. The HVX is an HD camera with DV compatibility. The DVX is designed for DV. When shooting DV only, I prefer the DVX.

16:9 24P or 30P, the HVX wins easily.

4:3 60i, the DVX wins easily.

DVX will always be more sensitive in lower light conditions, one to two stops more sensitive.
