stall on playback

I was playing back some footage on the xh a1. The tape seemed to pause or stall at one point.. just for a second. This is the second time I have seen this (the first was a different tape).

ps.. The unit is fairly new, not much use yet. So the heads should be clean. I am using high quality panasonic tape as recommended here.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

It's probably tape dropout. One frame causes you to lose half a second of footage.

yeah dropped frames are inevitable.

Try recapturing again. Sometimes a dropout can happen in playback only. If it happens in the same spot, then the dropout probably happened while recording.
