Stadium

MTV generation huh? LOL
Actually, I hate MTV and television in general. That is why I threw away my idiotbox 10 years ago! I love SLOOOOOOOW, thoughtful movies...drenched in atmosphere(usually foreign). I also deeply appreciate experimental if I'm in the mood.
It doesn't make sense to me why the womb resident would have such a conscious experience in between the random flashes of window curtain, etc. To me, it would be all flashes.
It definitely provides a sense of place, but that place didn't ring true for me in relation to the subject matter. It feels like third-person storytelling in the beginning and then joltingly first-person. The 3rd-person conscious reality parts felt too straight forward (kinda like how sometimes people in movies have a dream and they see themselves dreaming. Dreams are rarely lucid or distanced) . Wouldn't this womb experience be relentlessly fragmented, and without banal moments? Like when you show glimpses of the curtain or the woman on the hill, etc. The abstract flashes we're what interested me, because it felt truer to how we experience the unconscious.
The unconscious awareness, before it is merged with the Freudian idea of self would be less straightforward in my editing world. I thought it might be more interesting to have a thoughtful critique on your hard work to balnce out all the "awesomes!" and "OhmyF*ckingGods!".
Peace.

Or it could be a flashback of being in the womb by the guy in the cave, maybe even brought on by hypnosis? I'm not sure Stadium's meant to be rationalized, even though it can be. It's interesting, and frightening.

It could've been even more freudian if the hole in the wall had teeth, but who wants to go there?

slimjimmed, in first place I don't think you shouldn't have such an objective interpretation of the guy in the 'womb'. His consciousness can only represent the idea that we are before we think, ie, he wasn't aware of his mother or the fact he is in the womb; it's just a metaphysical way of representing one's leap into existence. I don't think he 'sees' those flashes. At most, they're fed to him by his mother, moments she lived and images her mind preserved. We need to be told about them, otherwise we'd be left completely in the dark.

I can understand the need for critique, but there the issue of it being relevant also. Saying that it should be shortened to increase pace doesn't seem to be so.

Anywa, don't take it personally, because it isn't.

i agree with slimjimmed. But your visuals are very awesome and i understand what you were trying to accomplish. How long were you in production on this piece?

I'm glad that you send all critique positive or negative. That's the point.
Thank you everyone for that.

Have you ever heard about life after life? or death?
you remember sometimes things, pictures that you cannot explain...

:)

What about the script and all preproduction time, how long did that take? Did you have a storyboard or you just came up with a lot of experimental angles during shooting, and then chose only the best ones?

firre,

my wife Dorota (my assistant on all our projects as well as graphic designer) is from Poland. She is curious what school you went to. PM me if you would prefer.

Again, great work! Did you have to pay the mother or hospital?
