Stabilizer recommendations?

I've seen people fly an FS700 on a Ronin but it looks like it's a bit of a trick to pull off. I would love to get a gimbal for my camera and have started doing some research. Thought I might ask what everyone else is using and what their experience has been. Obviously looking for the best bang for the buck.
 
Its doable with the extended ronin arms. Its just very very heavy. Like 15lbs on the arms heavy. Maybe the ronin M could tackle it? Never seen one on an M before.

Interested to see what comes up myself.
 
You could consider a different camera - I just bought a black magic micro... or an Osmo and X5

Both of these solutions may be cheaper than getting a stabiliser that can carry the payload of the 700

Not to mention you have to carry a lot less mass and may cut down on faffing on set going from sticks to stabiliser

Yah you are gonna say you want 240FPS.. well that is damn smooth without a stabiliser.

I'm trying to master my FS700 on my Glidecam (knockoff). It's slow going, but on the upside I've been able to cancel my gym membership.
 
I'm just starting off with a gimbal and I'd say that keep it as light as possible. Small camera, small lens and a smaller gimbal is probably best. Even the A7S II I got is on the heavy side so I can't imagine flying something like the FS700.
 
I fly the FS700 on my Ronin with extended arms from Cinemilled and the Odyssey 7Q+, no problem. A friend of mine flies a Red Dragon on his Ronin complete with Movi Ring, Teradek Bolt transmitter, V-mount battery, remote focus receiver/motor and monitor for a Disney show in place of a Steadicam operator.

The trick is building up arm strength :)

I think these things should not rely on pure muscle that is just not healthy.

Ive been experimenting with various ways of carrying the load. All about having it close to your body (like good steadicam operation), smaller handlebars can help if you dont need the full 360 of rotation for example.

Somthing small like the osmo can be held close. Brilliant.

The ready rig and its alternatives are definitely awesome ways to fly the ronin. Op is looking for best bang for his buck tho so throwing an additional 1500$+ for comfort would probably make him scrap the idea.

And Tim sewell you're my hero. Wouldn't even cosnider flying my fs700 without the x10 as i always leave my hunt shoulder mount base on.
 
I used the FS700/7Q on the Ronin for a couple of months. It's heavy as heck. I had a very light lens, the Sony 10-18 f4.0. Didn't need the extended arms, but i did need a right angle adapter for the sdi cable to fit back there. It got the job done, was very stable due to the pure weight of it. But i could only work it for about 3 min at the most before having to put it down.

And then i decided to get the a6300 and Beholder DS1. SO much easier, and the image is comparable in my opinion. All for less money than the original Ronin was.

That said, i did return the Beholder. Had weird shakes. I'm waiting for the Pilotfly H2 with detachable handle, because i think the pistol grip is nice in some situations but the handlebar set up is just more stable. Hoping the Pilotfly gives the best of both worlds.

I don't think the FS700 fits on the Ronin M. But an a6300 or a7RII would be great on it. I just think there are some really good options that are much lighter and cheaper than the FS700 on an original Ronin!
