Spot on Sensor

I just got my 7D yesterday and started shooting and noticed that I have a spot on my sensor. At first I thought it might just be on one of my lenses, so I changed lenses and it's still there. I of course tried the auto and the manual setting to try to remove the spot, but so far haven't been successful. I have 4 other Canon cameras, and this is the first time I've ever had a spot on the sensor that I couldn't get rid of.

I'm out of Phoenix and I certainly don't want to have to send my camera all the way back to New Jersey just to have a tech remove the spot from the sensor.

Any thoughts?

Can you see physically the spot on the sensor if you lift up the mirror or does it just appear on digital stills and video off the camera?

After 2 years of owning an original 5D, I came across some gunk on the sensor that I couldn't get rid of, so I got a wet cleaning kit and followed the instructions online carefully. It was a snap. The warnings you read all over the place is just so that you slow down, take your time, and be ginger with the sensor - all good advice - but it's not scary or intimidating. (I suspect it was some internal oil or lubricant that dislodged after many thousands of actuations and lens changes in the field.)

I'd first try holding the camera upside down with the mirror locked up, and use a rocket blower to try to dislodge the spot. If that fails, try a dry cleaning with something like an Arctic Butterfly. If the spot doesn't come off, then go to a wet cleaning swab and solution (available nearly everywhere online). This three-tier procedure has, so far, never met with schmutz I couldn't bust.

I really appreciate your advise. It looks more like some oil on the sensor than dust. I also know that many camera stores offer a cleaning service for a small fee, but I like your idea the best.

Again, thanks for the response.
