Splitting Archives, P2 DVD

I'm trying to burn my P2 card data to DVD's, I don't have a dual layer burner, and I'm limited to 4.7 GB. I have an 8GB P2 card, is there any way to split the content (while keeping it organized) so that I can split the files to the size that will fit on one DVD. I'd prefer not to just count the file sizes and throw mxf files randomly onto different DVD's.

Is there a way to archive the whole file and then split it evenly? I've heard of programs that can do this, but I'm wondering if it would work for this purpose.

I'm working on a Mac

Nero lets you span dvds
I don't reccomend it. Spend the $20 on a spindle of dual layer dvds
I like the 4 gig cards for this reason. I can fit one on a DVD and still have enough room on it for almost 700 megs of production stills or other data.

yes it does. unless you're one of .00001 customers where they install the wrong type of burner. If you're not sure. google the specs of the model # of you comp, usually on the bottom of the comp under the battery.

Cheers!
