Split Diopter on GH2

I have been studying classic film, and I had heard mention of split diopter. Is this something that is possible on DSLR? I use primarily NIKON prime lenses on the GH2.

Found this on Amazon for $45, is it really that simple? For some reason I am thinking it can't be.

Split diopter as in a focusing screen, where it displaces the image until it's in focus? If so, you can't use it on a GH2, because it has no optical viewfinder.

Sure, they are great. You need to line up foreground and bg with the split diopter, cokin makes a cheap version that works just fine. Tripod a must, tough to work handheld. Cokin or Lee diopter will drop into holder attached to front thread. Stunning in car shot in Wim Wenders paris texas to get rear view mirror and thru winscreen in focus..

No they are talking a split diopter accessory that is placed in the optical path from the scene to the sensor plane, allowing the 'foreground' portion to be in as sharp a focus as any distant element in the scene. This was used in "Citizen Kane"(1941) because Greg Toland was a 'deep Depth of Field' type photographer. Stopping down the lens requires either 1) brighter lights, to the point of sunburning the talent (or at least their eyes...), or 2) drops the light to the sensor to too low a value.
