F3: Speed Booster for FZ Mount

When they do it for the EF mount, and decide to ask less than $1200, maybe someone will actually be interested.

My math says its not possible, you would need ~12mm FFD for a speedbooster to fit without hitting the glass- the FZ mount is 18mm- so Im guessing this doesnt reach infinity focus- would love to be proved wrong though because Id love to have one!

Can be done, but some Leica R and C/Y lenses won't fit it. You just put glass around 2mm up, cut some rear part of SpeedBooster and also You need to cut some of LR / CY mount, so lens will be a bit lower than it is in genuine NEX SppedBooster. Some lenses rear glass can touch SpeedBooster glass, but some works fine.
Another idea is to remove FZ camera filter (4 screws) if You need SpeedBooster adapter to Your set of lenses and You won't be removing it to use other mounts. I have two SpeedBoosters done (LR and CY) and it works fine when You remove filter and use it without removing adapter. For example. You have CY set of lenses and You use just it on FZ mount. You just remove filter, put SpeedBooster adapter and do not remove it. Sensor is safe and You have SpeedBooster adapter that works with Your set.

I don't even think removing glass is enough. The opening in the camera is too small.
I made two custom adapters for a customer but he had his F5s machined to accommodate the SB.
I have no clue why BTW ;)
you can also alter the SB glass but I would not dare grind glass edges myself...
placing the(SB) glass further away from the sensor so it clears messes up the image quality to the point of useless...
Not to mention it may interfere with the back lens element.
So here you go- SB feasibility study for Sony F cameras-
You're welcome!!!!!

I don't understand what the big benefit is in doing all of this on an F3. Teach me please.

Let us make some assumptions.

1) using af glass the focus throw makes you feel ill

2) you want to shoot ENG sequences a wide a mid a cu

You need a cabrio $30k (or an $10k ENG zoom and $2k adapter) or a 28-85 manual nikkor with a speed booster.

The booster option is very attractive!

I agree- the concept is very appealing- hence the popularity.
Everyone always wants two things from lenses- wider and faster. The SB gives both.
What's not to like?
You are, in a way doubling up your lens resource with the two most attractive specs- wider and faster. One adapter instead of another- more expensive set of fast lenses. Totally buying it!!!! (the concept that is)
