I want to buy a new PC laptop that will allow me to off-load in the field but also do some preliminary editing. Any recomendations on what minimum specs I should get.

Thanks

Mark

pentium dual core proc, probably 2.4 or greater. 2GB ram minimum. Adobe recommends 3GB for HD. most laptop hard drives are 5400rpm so I'd get a 7200rpm usb 2.0 or firewire external, at least 250GB depending on how much footage you're planning on using.

Dealing w/ HD? I'd say 4gigs and P Core 2 duo 2.6ish, 256M minimum dedicated video. 7200 rpm 500gig HD. Pcmcia slot of course. $1500+

Non HD? Pentium M 1.6 or similar and 2 gigs. This would be a used laptop w/pcmcia slot. $250+

I would recommend the Panasonic Toughbook for either option.

Thankks! I will be dealing with only HD and would just as soon make it as fast or faster than it needsto be.

Any names or model mumbers so I can just order one today for a quick delivery?

Thanks.
