Specifications & Outfitting

I've sent messages to RED without any response. I know the sensor/acquisition technology well so I am confortable with using RED for our productions. But ... I haven't been able to find the detailed data (output specifications, a/d dist curve, etc.) and information about outfitting the camera for a shoot. (matt box, lens supports, hardware, xmtn line, etc.) We are configuring for capture using DeckLink HD series capture cards.

Our next shoot is March 1 but would need to beging profiling camera Feb 1 or so. Tried to download spec but got error message. Is there someplace to get this information? E-mail resonse is fine.

look in december for spec's ...
IMO forget the decklink ... use REDcode RAW ..
for mattbox , follow focus etc it should take any of those items that are made for the movie industry ( 19/15mm ) ...

depending on your reservation # i wouldn't count on a RED for a march 1 shoot ... if you have a reservation under #40 there might be a possibility ????
 
They're shooting for March or April, so March 1 seems highly unlikely even with a low reservation number.
 
March 1st? Eek. Sure wouln't rely on having one by that date, Jim's already said they HOPE to start shipping in the, and I quote, "March/April" timeframe.

I would delay your production until you knew you had the camera, or use a different camera if the date has to stick.
 
Thanks for the information -- looks like I'll stay with the plan to shoot with Viper Filmstream for The Black Messiah Murders production and purchase 4 for five of the RED for the following productions. Really like the RED.
