How do i clean this spec on my sensor? it doesnt seem to come off at all i dont wanna mess up the sensor either, thanks for any advice. all i have is lens cloth.
Sounds like what you have is a "welded" spot. Moisture or lubricant that has congealed around something like a dust speck and the only safe way to get it off is to do a wet cleaning with something like Visible Dust cleaning solutions or Eclipse cleaning fluid (about the purest alcohol we can buy) and special sensor swabs.
I got my Visible Dust solutions from B&H.
This stuff is not cheap but a helluva lot cheaper than camera repair for messed up sensor.
The sensor on most cameras is not as delicate as you would think. Most Canons have a filter layer of glass (OLPF) over the sensor but caution is still advised. Lens cleaning stuff is flat not advised.
Also exercise even more caution if trying to clean the sensor on any camera that uses sensor shift in body image stabilization.
You might check camera stores in your area to see if any offer a sensor cleaning service.
I use their VDust Plus cleaning solution and I have some of their swabs. Swabs I use are for APS-C size sensors but the same size is also used for Micro Four Thirds.
I use their Eclipse cleaning fluid, their sensor swabs as well, PecPads (pkg of 100 lasts and lasts and you wont find a better lens cleaning cloth - used with Eclipse Cleaning Fluid), and an older version of their BrushOFF. Also their sensor loupe costs less than the one offered by Visible Dust.
I know this stuff is not cheap but it does work (will scare you half to death first time you do it but it works), just be sure and follow instructions.
one other thing before i start new thread, im noticing on alot of my photo's that theres artifacts when I was shooting in Raw, im seeing Small red, green and Blue dots on my picture's i can post them if needed. Is that because of the sensor being dirty or?
So i went to Crown Camera today and they tried helping me clean the glass piece on the sensor of my gh2 to get that "water spec" off. First off it isnt a water mark i dont think because it didnt come off. they said that it was somthing with the glass and ill have to send it into panasonic to fix it $150 or so. My question is should i sell it for slightly less? or? cuz i dont really want to send it in id rather have the new buyer do that and ill discount it for the price of it.
Let me know what you guys think i should sell it for with 3 batteries and charger ect/ box og accessories.
