Spartacus: Blood and Sand

Poor guy.

I wouldn't mind seeing some "Adventures of Crixus" in the meantime either.

I kind of didn't buy Doctore falling for Asher's bit...I was like screaming at the TV for him to ice that slimy bastard.

Now that I would like to see. I hope he gets better.

I'm with you on the Dotore thing. I was hoping he would get his, but as Battuta stated I just knew he would weasel his out of it. But that guy can act, I really thought he wanted to die like a gladiator.

I'm willing to follow a prequel. It will have to do before season 2.

I think the weakest aspect was Doctore's conversion. They did JUST enough to make it plausible, but it would have been better if they laid a little more groundwork make it sing.

....Because I totally forgot about the conversation they had when the Barca was killed like 6 episodes prior.

....Because I totally forgot about the conversation they had when the gay gladiator was killed like 6 episodes prior. I can not for the life of me think of his name.

His name isn't gay-dreads dude?..that's what I always called him...I just meant emotionally I never really felt Doctore's conversion. They had all the pieces there, they just needed to do more, show more conflict in his decision.

Agreed, esp since he had just been offered freedom and the ludis for his own.

I can agree with that. It felt odd to me I just could not put my finger on it.

I was wondering does this follow ANY historical accounts at all? Even on the most basic level.

"Historically" doesn't Spartacus go from town to town freeing gladiators and wage war on Rome or something. I'm just going off of memory here so I don't know if I'm correct.

You are kind of of correct about that. Just a few weeks ago I saw a special on the History Channel detailing that, I was kind of pissed because it kind of ruined any surprises for me when watching the series now. If I could go back I would not have watched that History Channel piece but the series still is good though, the only characters the History Channel piece focus on was Spartacus and Crixus.

And Boy, what I wouldn't give to also see a Back Story on Crixus, hope the prequels are good, until then I hope the actor gets well.

SPOILERS

Now, back to the finale, the two most hated but yet best acted villains in the Series survived, even though they are hated I felt so relief that they survived because I can't wait to see what sickening, backstabbing, snake things they do in Season 2. I'm talking about Ilithyia, Ashur. Those two belong and treturous hell together...LOL, they're the villains you love to hate.

For some reason I thought Batiatus would survive, especially after Doctore stop Spartacus from cutting his head off the first time.

I admit, though I've seen some crazy stuff in the series, my Jaw was to the ground when that door was locked and all the women were being slaughtered... I wonder how accurate that is to the history, I wouldn't doubt it from what I've read in the Roman's history... man, that scene was nutz.

SPOILERS !

Batiatus is a really good villain because even though you wanted him dead there were many times you would sympathise with his plight. And also he saves Spartacus's life and elevates his status and also respects Spartacus. I thought he would have survived till the end of the series maybe as a senator before getting killed. Now it seems the Big Boss villain who will get killed in the end is actually Claudius.

Anyone have sweaty palms throughout the finale? Man, one of the best things I've watched in awhile. I felt like I got hit with a shot of adrenaline.

As for the Doctore's turn, I agree with much that's been said, but I was still happy to see it. Regardless of his motivation, I thought his final confrontation with Ashur was well plotted because they really are yin and yang. Ashur personified the corruption and dishonor in the house of Battiatus.

Glad to hear the actor is better. I haven't followed this series much, but I hope to catch up by checking out some episodes on my digital cable on-demand service.

Stick with it to the 3rd and 4th episodes, that's when it starts getting good.

Here's the latest, their thinking about re-casting him or cancelling the series together as a whole..., I hope they don't cancel the series, if anything they should have another central character step up, but then the series wouldn’t be called Spartacus I guests. What ever they decide to do, hope they show respect for him as they have been throughout this whole process. The article does make a point as far as other actors waiting in the wings not knowing if they will have a job and so on. This is a tough situation for a production company to be in but even tougher for a guy when his life is on the line.
