Well, we've a problem...

There's a spanned clip on a 16GB P2 card that NEEDS to be imported into FCP 6.02 but everytime we try this - using the L&T window - we get the same error-notification.

Now, is there something wrong the the XML!?

Try P2 Log Pro from Imagine Products to repair the clip. You can also try copying the files back onto P2 cards and letting the camera repair the clips.

http://www.imagineproducts.com/P2log.htm

However, before you do any of this, could it be that the clip can't be imported because not all of the clips are present? Did you rename any of the CONTENTS folders to something else, like CONTENTS1, CONTENTS2 etc.?

Hi THoff!

No I didn't mess around with any of the folder / file names at all :-/
And afaik all the clips are present; at least both folders - 0008IZ & 00092W - are!

Could "repair clip(loop)" in any way affect the data in a negative way? (I haven't tried it yet, I'm just scared of ending up without my most important clip!!!)

"Loop" is only for material recorded in loop mode, where to camera automatically overwrites the oldest footage when the cards fill up.

Just make sure you copy the 2 complete folders in a different place as a copy, from there you can start "testing" what the problem is....i would never play around with the original and unique footage if its important...!

I am not really good on P2 and MAC, but in general id think that that all is fine with the footage(content folders),but something gets messed up when trying to import...when i am working on PC with Edius for example i do have to make sure i choose the right clips, as a spanned one appears twice: the first part(shorter) and the 2nd clip(complete).

I guess starting to work with P2, espacially with spanned clips can give you some confusion in the beginning, so cool down, save your footage and work it out...!
