Sound problems with XH-A1

Haven't really been noticing this because sound wasn't such a big issue for the things i shot. But i'm noticing a lot of static on both the internal mic and external mic. Attenuator is off, controls are set to manual and both channels are midway. Tried two different XLR-cables, but as both internal and external mic have the same static i'm ruling problems with the cables out.

I have uploaded an example: http://www.vimeo.com/3507082

(it could still be converting)

Canon XH-A1 was bought in may 2007. Couldn't find any known issues quickly. Anybody got an idea?

As you've probably guessed, if it's doing it off both the internal and external mics it isn't the cable or the mic.

Check the easy free stuff first. Do you have a loose strap or loose shell screw that is causing external noise?

Do you have a ring on that's rubbing the shell? Do you have a bad habit of scratching the shell with a fingernail as you bend your fingers?

Try a different tape incase something is dragging in the tape shell. Look in the tape bay and make sure a piece of plastic or paper hasn't gotten in.

After that you might have to have it looked at by a technician.

Problem 'solved'. It turns out that the phantom power is causing this hiss. When working on a battery with the external mic, there is no intrusive hiss.

Have removed the example. BTW, i am using a AT897.
