Well that's great to know , I guess no need t6o start stocking up on the old cards. It would be nice if it had a write protection tab for a start.

Looks like it will be replaced with the newest version (128GB XQD-G-E), with a read speed of 440MB/s and write 400MB/s. $169. B&H gives availability date as July 02, 2016. So, it has faster read speed (= faster download).

The 128GB card is available in Japan starting tomorrow, at about $300. I don't see any 256GB yet, but would welcome it, seeing how I'm only getting 22 minutes off my 128GB cards.

Just got a note from Juan Matinez re the new cards:
"The new faster read/ write speed capable G/E series cards do not affect the camera’s recording format specifications. However, read speed of 440-MB/s dramatically reduces ingest/ transfer time. This alone may bring running cost down as less time /cards may be required."
Also the old card readers won't work on the new ones. Yoiu'll new to purchase a " MRWE90/BC2 reader reads ALL XQD and SD cards."
On B&H these are running $55.58 @ but the cards seem to be the same price as previous ( at least that's what B&H said last week - don't see it listed today.)

Ha!.. That's literally the third different card reader they've released for XQD.

Don't the new cards come with readers? The 4 card I have all included the reader.

The free readers are USB2 the readers you have to buy as an extra are USB3.
That's the difference.

Just that I find it incomprehensible that Sony would bundle a USB 2 reader with a 128GB card. Then again we are talking about Sony.
