Sony XDCAM EX3 with 35mm adapter image flip capability

Ok, I believe most of you are missing the point with the 35mm adaptors. I understand why you would want to bypass the method the ex1 uses to adapt a letus extreme, but you can still use that method here. The complete letus extreme package is still around $2000, so even if the camera is $12k, (which is what price most of you have been quoting) that is still only $14k, not $18k or $21k. Besides, you can get an ex1 now for $6k, so, I'm assuming the price of the EX3 will drop in a year anyway.

Fortunately, the camera is only going to be around $8500, so that is only $10,500 total anyway, $13,000 with the ultimate!

As for the REDCAM, have any of you actually shot on the REDCAM, the work flow is marvelous. I edit the 4k and 2k footage on my pc laptop. It really isn't that slow, course my laptop is pretty fast as it is. All you have to do is use the redcode codec and cineform codec. I'm just waiting to get the red drive, so I can bypass the need to convert any movies over to the DCI jpeg 2000 xml spec, which is annoying and costly. I doubt that format will last too long though anyway.

As for the ex3, I would just use what Phillip recommends and just attach the letus to the ex3 lens, just as you would the ex1. Unless you have a lot of 1/2 or 2/3 glass, who cares about the removable lens aspect.

Also if any of you are having trouble finding a good method to converting codecs, I sometimes use the super converter. http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
It is good for a lot of batch conversions for the pc and will output to tons of different media. It is also handy to go from avchd media, if you have a smaller smart media camera like the Sony HDR-SR12 or Cannon HF10.

Cheers
