Sony RX10 - My zoom moves by itself? Help

Hello,

I love my Sony RX10 but lately I noticed that the zoom has a mind of its own.

Sometimes when I film something, the zoom automatically moves in and out by itself.

Does anyone know of a setting that creates this behavior? If so, how can I turn it off?

Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Interesting. First, lets try to rule out the obvious. Is it possible that, in the course of filming, something is bumping the focus/zoom ring or the zoom rocker switch? I know I've accidently hit the focus/zoom ring when I was reaching for the aperture ring from time to time.

Does it do it in manual focus mode only, or autofocus only, or both?

If all else fails, you could try reseting the camera by going to menu->Toolbox icon to the far right->Setting Reset. That should put the camera settings back to defaults. It's worth a shot.

Good questions. It was happening in autofocus only. I normally do not use manual focus. Good idea about resetting. It only happens sometimes, but it is annoying.

I will let you know if the reset helps. I appreciate your response.
