FS5: Sony PXW-FX6

Great question, I actually chose a LUT with a green biases because of the nature of the video that the interview was being used in. It was to match the feel of the video. The actual log footage itself ungraded does not have a green tint the way my grade does. The client liked it this way as well.

Ah! I thought that might be the case. To think that two very late model Sony cams we're leaning that far green was what peaked my curiosity. Regardless. Thanks for showing us the comparo. Will be interesting to see the new PP 11 Cinetone come the the 7Siii. Thanks again!

Chris Young.

Nice little video but completely opposite to the conversation above her skin tone has been graded to be positively Trumpian in its orangeness :)

Yeah :)
I saw the explanation of the footage. Unfortunately it was a webinar in French. It was made for Sony France. What's interesting is that the conditions were no stab - only one day - only one lens (16-35) - only one guy. The stab was made in post prod with catalyst.
In the same discussion, the subject of the choice between sensor stab and neutral filter was raised. The Sony guy confirmed that both are not technically possible (I guess it's because of the 18 mm FE focus distance).
During the interview, the Sony guy said also that the autofocus performance is inferior with the FX6 due to the NF. Unfortunately I was not in the webinar and did not have the opportunity to ask if it's the reason why the focus tracking is not implemented on the FX6

We are in the middle of a pandemic and lockdown.

What the hell type of videos are you guys expecting to see produced right now?

I think maybe cut some people some slack.

The purpose of the video was to show Paris in a never seen way. This kind of post-apocalyptic look is really strange when you know those places in normal condition.
First time I see urbex footage at Montmartre or Le Louvre :)
I understand that it's the same in many cities and that people are fed up everywhere with the covid pandemy :/
From technical standpoint, I was interested to see that Catalyst is able to realize a quite decent job for the stabilization. Because the use of a tripod is prohibited in many places here

Can't stand this and thousands of other near identical videos with random shots of girls walking around without a purpose.

Haven't you ever heard of "standards"?! They're a scientific measure that allows us to properly compare one thing to another. How can we do that if we don't have matching footage of girls wandering around aimlessly? It's "the" reference point for new cameras.

Something creative.

Care to post one of your creative shot in lockdown camera tests as an example?

For me, I'm just happy to see different exposures and different contrast scenes and motion and skin tones and fine detail.

EDIT: Not singling you out or anything, it's just a lot of this stuff is needlessly antagonistic and the thread descends into people feeling they need to defend stuff they have posted even if it is not theirs instead of actually discussing the camera/workflow. If something posted is of no use to you for whatever reason, just wait around and maybe the next thing will be.

i don't do camera tests. You have to understand there's no correlation between having opinions about these so called walking girls camera examples and what I do. It's just an opinion and even before these strange days these kind of videos were abundant ans it's getting boring. Just like shooting some flowers. You don't have to agree as it's just an opinion and we each have one.

It's like Clint Eastwood once said. Opinions are like assholes, everyone got one.

Ah man I forget what it is I didn't miss about this place.

People with no inside voice being needlessly antagonistic in a place where we are basically here to learn/teach and take something away from what we find here. But same people also seemingly not posting their own stuff either. Not every opinion needs to be voiced. Again not at you specifically, but sometimes it serves zero purpose but to bring conversations to a halt.

Okay lesson learned. I won't post stuff anymore. Moving on...

probably true. nevertheless, try not to take it too personally. i'm sure we all appreciate your posts even if the expression that the appreciation takes is antagonism

I'm sorry. I'm new here, was not thinking that many similar things were posted before.
Was thinking also that the technical aspects were of interest :/ My interest at the moment is the ways to stabilize a footage without a tripod, with a 'light' config

I'm still thinking about buying one of these, i'd probably get naff all for my FS7, not that it matters as it paid for itself many times over.

I've been looking what I'll need to add on and I think memory cards are the main sticking point. What's the consensus about cards to use?

I've been looking around for cheaper memory cards and just found the 80gb Sony CF-A for £179 (including VAT) here in the UK if anyone is interested?
