Hi Guys, this video was filmed at 1080 60P, -1 exposure, Straight from the camera, No CC, Auto focus, auto everything on the Sony HX100V, couple shots at full zoom (30X optical), i felt pleased at how the camera performed. what do you think?

Very impressive! I like the HX100V and HX9V video that I have seen - a lot - and would have considered buying one if they had an external mic and unlimited recording time.

Both HX100V and HX9V are very interesting to me, particularly the HX9V which, as has been said quite a few times, is almost a perfect run & gun solution. Stabilisation is famously impressive. I've been thinking through a small cheap rig for the HX9V involving a Panasonic LX3 leather case (body case only which is about the right size but will check), small handle to screw into the bottom (cheap on ebay), lens hood (seen a photo of an HX9V fitted with a 58mm plastic lens hood with side screw which seems to work with a bit of improvisation), horizontal bracket across the bottom of the camera which extends enough to the side for a shotgun mic (possibly Sennheiser MKE400 or Rode VM pro) to slot into a cold shoe, this wired to a digital audio recorder held in my pocket. You can then retain the camera's own stereo recording as an ambient/scratch track. Also a flipbak mirror 3" LCD panel cover so the camera can be used at waist level (albeit with upside down image). This would be a very compact set up. Like others, wish you could manually adjust contrast, sharpness and colour settings in video mode. However, I believe Sony are announcing new compacts next week (28 February I think) and one of them is the successor to the HX9V - rumoured specs as follows:

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10
  • 18 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor
  • 24mm equivalent lens with 16x optical zoom, 32x digital zoom
  • 3.0-in. 921k dot LCD screen
  • Can captures still images during video recording
  • Full HD video at 1920x1080/60p
  • GPS geo-tagging
  • Price: $330
  • Not sure about even more megapixels but nice if they have allowed more manual adjustment.
