Sony FX3 camcorder registered - 8K?

I don't know anything about the FX3 except that I already want one. I'd like to get on a prelist of people signed up to be the first in line to preorder whatever this turns out to be so I can realize my dream of an unboxing video that people will watch. The world will finally have to take me seriously. I can use it to film the FedEx driver, the expression on his face will be lurid as he confirms proof of delivery. I just need to figure out how the FX3 can be used to film itself coming out of the package. This is only a stopgap until the FX4 comes out, the camera I really want. Should my lens be stabilized for this, or trust the eND? The risks are great, but the rewards small, paving my roadmap to success.

Stand in line, Tom. NorBro has already pre-ordered it, pre-used it and pre-sold it.

(PS. the announement is indeed on the 23rd, when you can pre-order a ton of things and then match them in post-)

On a serious note - last week, there was another major earthquake off the Japanese coast near Fukushima. No deaths are reported but some production facilities are being shutdown to examine the potential damages. Combined with an electronic component plant fire of a couple of months ago, this could mean delays in both the manufacturing and the deliveries. It has been effecting the car companies across the globe.

Pre order GAS syndrome is not to be taken lightly.

Speaking of which, my 2-part review is up for my Patreon subscribers -

Part 1: 76 reasons the FX3 is the last camera you'll ever buy

Part 2: 76 reasons the FX3 is a crime against humanity and the designers should be shot

I see the new Blackmagic 6K Pocket Camera, announced today, has an ND filter. If Sony left their super eVND off the FX3 (we'll find out next week I guess) then that looks even more unfortunate...it has a plug and play EVF too!

It also looks like Sony have decided to add S-Cinetone to the A7SIII via a firmware update:

Ah. Now we’re talking. Good customer-centric move by Sony.

On the other hand, that leaves very few, very specific unique features for the FX3, assuming the rumoured specs are true. Surely there must be some other compelling reason to get the FX3? If it had an ND filter, everything would make a lot more sense.

Sony adding S-Cinetone to the A7SIII is a great move. It solves my #1 complaint with matching the A7SIII with the FX6/FX9 when not using log.

Sony should’ve put this in the A7SIII to begin with, but I’m not going to complain about that so long as it’s there now. This needs to be a standard moving forward so their cameras can match with and without log across the board.

I would venture to guess that Paul once again forced Sony's hand on offering something they were either going to charge extra for - or were gonna roll out in the next product cycle - or simply weren't thinking about their end user. This post was two months ago:

You'd have to go into the menu, kinda sucks but how often do you change nds?

I seriously doubt there is ND, but if it has eND, then it can be set to auto and you NEVER, EVER need to turn it off after unboxing the camera and turning the variable auto ND on. Ok, back to reality: It won't have ND.
