Sony FS700 $7,999 official from AbelCine

There will be sales tax if you buy it from any store in the US.

Usually buying it online and getting it delivered (to a different state) avoids the sales tax.
Depending on how long I stay in the US, I could maybe order it online when I get there. Or I could just pay the tax and still get the camera a lot cheaper than I would over here.

Even if you did get it in the US and brought it back to UK what happens with warranty? Is there an extended international warranty that you can buy or something to that effect. The Uk price difference is just ridiculous.

I don't know about an international warranty, but it would be covered by the US warranty, so if the worst came to the worst, I would ship it to Sony USA for repairs, paying for return shipping myself, if necessary. Agreed, the price is crazy, and unjustifiable. Sony must be hurting their European dealers just as much as they're hurting their European customers, because everyone is going to be looking for ways to avoid buying it in Europe. With a differential like that, it really is worth going to the US for a holiday.

Source is 'probably' and of course Sonys previous history in this area .. yes S-Log.

If we all cry out about it right now .. maybe they won't.

Cheers.

I went to a presentation the past Monday and the Sony rep said the 4k upgrade was going to be free but you need the recorder. I also asked about timecode, genlock, and timelapse: no, no, 1 sec. They have a pretty cool little adapter that will let you use A mount lenses and autofocus, using a beamsplitter that only costs you about 1/3 stop.
