Sony F35 Front Plate Modification to Fit Nikon Lenses - Group Idea

My F35 is with Tink from Camera Platform, and he is busy trying to do just that. An Eos mount, with option to attach Nikon adapter with aperture control (gives best of both worlds)
His measurements assume it's possible, but if he feels its not gonna work, then he'll rather install a Nikon mount.
I'd like it as a choice of both, but lets see what prevails.
Here are the F35 innards, a work in progress:

Hopefully tomorrow we start the drilling!

how do you plan on adjusting the iris with eos lenses?

Well I have a bunch of Rokinon f1.4 Manual lenses that I'd like to keep and use in low light situations, and also the canon mount is from an old body, that is a good and secure base for the Nikon adapter.

To Be honest I don't think it make much sense with the Canon mount.
As a base mount it's not the best choice because it's a still bayonet "spring tension" type. Not very stable or solid.
Also as MCGreg said canon mount lenses are all electroninc iris (except couple rokinons) so this mount is of not much use for the Canon mounted lenses.
It adds another layer of parts that will affect the flange depth and that is always best to avoid...

The canon mount seems stable to me, there's no springs etc.
If i go the eos way, there's also the option of using a PL to eos adapter if I want to use PL glass in the future. Would be very convenient, quick and easy.

Well there are springs- that's how the lenses are secured in the still camera.
FYI there is only a very limited number of PL lenses that work with the PL2EOS adapters. I know I used to make the adapters.
If you want to use primes you'll have to remove the EOS flange so what's the point...
Some PL lenses are very heavy so not a good match for EF "base mount" either.
Listen I'm not trying to diminish the precision operation your friend is doing- I'll be the first to acknowledge the effort and skill of a true craftsman.
It's the specs that don't seem to be most fortunate and that's the owner's responsibility...

Thank you . That was my intention to make you aware of the possible issues so you can make an informed decision :)

I've been talking with Jacek from Optitek and he's close to having a ProLock ready for the F35; his estimate was $1200 - $1400. I'm going to go this route and will update as soon as there is something to show!

I don't have a spare front plate, but I can live without the camera for a couple of weeks if I need to dismantle it and send a part off. I'm selling a couple of spare lenses now to help fund this - what has been the best option?

Barrett, did you send yours off to Optitek or are you doing them yourself? I like Verismo's idea - but he doesn't seem to have continued development on this (according to a PM I received back). So, what did we land on? In other words, who can I send my money to?

Hopefully I'm not speaking out of turn on this, but I know that Barrett's been doing them in partnership with his friend who works as a machinist at SmallHD. They've done at least three of these mods that I know of, including mine.

Just got a hold of Barrett tonight. He's headed out on vacation for a bit and I'm throwing some lenses and spare F35 parts on eBay to pay for it, but we're cooking with grease now.

I've been using my plate from Barrett for about 2 weeks. Solid, professional and saves the pl mount. Definitely the way to go

Barrett if you are there - I'd love to reach out and see if you could do 2 more modifications on my f35s?

Barrett is still doing conversions as far as I know. I just dropped my plate off at USPS for him. Looks like an EOS mount F35 is in my future.
