Sony F23 -

@James0b57

I've been around, often lurking more than posting. Still waiting for the day I can get my hands on an F35 and in the meantime, experimenting with some older cameras/lenses (just shot a short with some Kern Switars on a BM camera; hence the c-mount question -- I wonder if a recessed adapter could be 3D-printed). I shot exclusively with a Varicam 2700 for about three years at the dawn of the DSLR revolution. Never fell in love with it, mostly because I could never get it to work for me ergonomically. Nice images, though. Haven't had a CCD camera in my life until recently when I picked up a Panasonic FZ-47 for laughs, but ended up liking it a lot more than I expected to: https://vimeo.com/284602742

Looking forward to your shootout. I'll be following that other thread for sure.

To me, the form factor is the other half of what makes it(and real ENG cameras, in general) so great. If they would stuff the 'innards' of my F55 or C300 into my 2700, I'd be so much happier and productive using them.

Please do. I've still never seen one in person. My biggest hesitation about pulling the trigger is the form factor, so it would be awesome to see one up close and personal.

Yeah, it is an unwieldy beast. Definite film lineage, and not an eng camera. Works great on fiction, but not as spontaneous as a eng body.

So much in agreement here! I feel that it won’t happen, because of the need for modularity these days, but an ENG like body with modern componenets ans s35 sounds pretty dreamy.

Though the F55 is pretty well thought out, i still can’t sling it, hug it, lift it, shoulder it, or carry it around like a traditional eng body. I am constantly worried i will accidentally break or scratch something, or push a button and change a setting, etc. plus, its shape is so square, and it ends up having some sort of hard edge cage on it, and is not nice to handle. Rather uncomfortable.

ENG cameras are sculpted and buttons are not easy to accidentally press. The only fragile point is the evf, and they are just over engineered enough to withstand the occasional knock. I could hold an ENG all day.
