Sony EX1 keeps dying/powering off

My Sony EX1 keeps dying or powering off regardless if I use plugged in power or battery. I realized it's an old camera but it shouldn't just keep dying like that. Is there a tutorial on how to fix it your self? If not, how do I get it fixed? Thank you.

Try rubbing your finger (with light pressure) across the power switch. Mine has become very "touchy" and can power the camera off just by making contact with it. If you were nowhere near the power switch when this happened, then your issue probably lies elsewhere.

If there is no physical damage sometimes oxidization on the switch contacts over a number of years can cause touchy contacts that are struggling to pass power. I've been able to resurrect flakey switches by having the camera off and giving the switches a spray, using a spray nozzle, of a quality electrical clean and lube specifically designed to clean up switches, rotary pots and sliders. Sliders like noisy sliders on audio desks. Give them a spray manipulate the switch / slider a number of times they try powering up. Repeat if necessary. The cleaner / lube can be found at most specialist and hobby electrical stores. Touch wood I haven't had a failure on any piece of equipment I've treated this way for years. On my ENG mixers that can end up working in humid damp conditions I give them a hit every few months or so. I also hit my oldest kit switches, pots and sliders about once a year as a preventative... so far so good!

hmm; pity I couldn't use this on my old aching knees :)

Tell me about it. Used to do sideline camera on the League footy. Not on my legs anymore. These days I'm not interested unless they want me on the main camera deck on close or med shot. Not only that if it rains you are nice and dry :)
