Hi,
i would know where i could ask one update for sony content management utility.
I often have naming problem files with multicamera PPRO project when i reload an conformed project.
PPRO doesn't relocalise the good files.
I think to resolve this problem we need a way to rename our files like canon xf utility do. it's simple but very usefull.
Conformed ppro project is not very secure because after effects dynamic link are forgotten with all his needed files and duplicate files name (multicamera) add more confusion.
Sony could take exemple on canon XF utility that seems to be the minimum we can wait.
Adobe could better integrate their after effects dynamic link in PPRO conformed project.
Sorry for my english,
Rudo.

Hi Rudo, I agree that they could make it better. If two or three cameras start recording in the same minute those files will have identical filenames. That could result in complete disaster when you are importing them all if you mistakenly think you already have the file and don't import one camera or even overwrite one that's already there.

Someone in SONY desperately needs to look at this. I imagine some people have lost footage already and may not even be aware!

Does anyone know a way to inform sony of this, it's pretty serious. See here as well. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?292454-Sony-transfer-utility-potential-problem

yes you well understood me MBradshaw, i contacted sony prime support to see what they can do about this CMU limitation...

Brilliant, An update would be nice and I wouldn't have to be so paranoid when importing cards. It's a pretty obvious flaw and I'm surprised no one realised it would be an issue.

That's been frustrating for me as well, every $100 p&s digicam can have sequential file numbering enabled, drives me nuts if I use two different cards on a shoot I have 2 duplicate file numbers that I have to go through and change the names.

Sony France call me today, they are looking what they could do on this CMU limitation. Wait and see.

Sony France call me today, and explained me i can copy files into different folders. Bravo!
So i clearly indicated this answer is not professional and i would know if Sony Japan will update CMU or not.
I noticed too it's not so complicate to change date name that CMU do by a prefix we can choose.
If i well remember some camera can do prefix naming directly into their menu (update fs100 firmware?).
I'm waiting for an professional answer to know if they continue or not to develop CMU and so i could know what i have to do.

Sorry for me english,
Rudo.

After several exchange with sony France, problem will still the same. Sony won't upgrade CMU software and won't update camera firmware to change prefix clip naming inside the camera's menu.
Now i know than Sony won't resolve this problem, i have to modify time in one of camera menu (one year before) to be sure than clips don't have same name.
It's the only way i found to resolve this conflict naming.
Sony, the Fs100 camera is a very good one but this restriction is really not professional at all.

i use file renamer in the back-up process, we have the same limitation with our BDM recorders, last night's shoot for example i removed the first three 0's of each clip, and replaced with d20_A_c1, d20_A_c2, d20_B_c1, for day 20, Acam card 1 & 2, Bcam card 1... do the identical with the internal recorder while re-wrapping to h.264

so they are named correctly before leaving set
