Sony A77 release very soon - is this the 5D/7D/GH2 killer?

A77 has in body stabilization and peaking mode, 2 killer features, Nex-7 misses in camera stabilization but can adapt much more lenses...hmmm
In body IS on latest Pentax DSLRs worked great but was quite noisy and the camera recorded that noise when shooting video, let's see how A77 does.

Yeah..I know. But incredibly lame to include manual audio control on a DSLR but exclude headphone monitoring. It's not a subcompact camera..it's not about real estate.

The camera doesn't even offer manual controls. its still AGC. There is no way to change audio levels via menus at all.
Was just on the Live Ustream group chat with their SonyUK rep and he confirmed for us that its AGC with plugin power.

If you guys are referring to the VG20 the gentleman in the video went out of his way to point out that the A77 did not have audio controls when somebody asked. That if audio controls were important then the VG20 was the camera to use because it does have audio controls.

As for image quality here you have a little sample:

Here we go again! It is too funny. Making a judgement on a compressed shaky video shot on a production camera on Vimeo or YouTube? Funny, funny! It happens every time a camera comes out! It never ceases to amaze me. Oh, BTW I saw "mud" under the water. Just hilarious.

Ah..so only AGC audio...no improvement there...and in harmony with lack of headphone jack. Thanks.

But they're thinking audio important enough to have an external input hmmmm...

It still seems odd to continually make that issue such a driving force towards a video devoted cam form factor.

Hey, I'm open to seeing some raw footage that demonstrates the real ability of this camera, but until that arrives all we have are these miserable scraps of video.

Aliasing and moire is a big DSLR/EVIL issue, with most cameras sucking quite badly. The GH-2 is an exception to this, and the new 5D MK2 sensor filter looks very promising.

I expect any new camera to be as good as the GH-2 in this area, otherwise why bother?

(The talk about uninformative sample footage reminded me of NAB years gone by where every booth had demo footage of babes on the beach. Yeah..never had the opportunity to shoot that kind of footage.)

I've been pixel peeping at the 6000 pixel jpegs from the A77 and from what I've seen I couldn't use this camera professionally for stills. The noise reduction blurs everything even at low ISOs. I don't know whether the examples have the NR set to low, med, or high. What's wrong with noise? Have the people at Sony never seen film grain before? The noise on the D3s looks great, on the 5D not so great but I'd rather have some noise than a gaussian blur! At 1080p it's probably not going to be that noticeable but at 6000 pixels it looks like mud! Not having the option to turn off the NR is a major flaw.
