Is this also true for 24p???

Who knows, but it's not a "bug" it's a limitation of hardware I guess.Could they fix this with a firmware upgrade anyway?
+1Obviously this camera will have it's imperfections. The strengths to me are the small size, pro features such as video capabilities and AF capabilities and obviously the price.

Basically it's got video features of 1DX mark II minus 4K60p for 1/6 of a price. Actually with slog and xavc it exceeds 1DXII specs.

AX series is full frame. AXXXX is APS-C, so it'd have to be something like an A7300. There's still room for the $2,000 4K "A5" too though.I still see room for an a5 that puts this APS-C sensor inside the a7 II body, selling for $1300 body-only. For people who can spend $300 more for IBIS and a bigger body, and maybe less overheating (seeing the crop in 4K 30fps, heat is probably going to be an issue on the a6300: something is running right at its limit at 4K 24fps).
Unlikely. Most Sony models shoot 1080 at 50 Mbps with the help of XAVC S.I've read it on the brochure that it shoots 4k at 100mps...I would assume that this kind of bitrate is possible also a full hd 24p, no?
Actually, what other Ax models are there to judge by? Unless I am missing something, all of the full frame mirrorless cameras have been variations of the A7 moniker (s, R, ii, etc). I don't see any reason to assume that single digit models are all FF. Rather, I'd assume they are all going to be higher-end models than the 4-digit line, much like the way other manufacturers do. For example, Canon has the 1100D, 550D, 60D, etc, then they have the more expensive and less consumer-y line single digit D like the 1D, 5D, 7D, etc. The single-digit just means it is a more expensive higher end model that costs more- some are FF, some are APS-H, some are APS-C.AX series is full frame. Yes, the camera would physically be capable of FHD 24p at 100mpbs, but I doubt they'd offer it. I believe it has to do with weighing the perceived benefits of a particular feature versus making standard features inaccessible to the average consumer. I'd guess that they determined 50mbps to be the "sweet spot" for full HD bitrate in XAVCS. High enough detail to be better than most codecs, but still manageable for the vast majority of memory cards and home-editing software. If the average consumer noticed a "higher quality mode", they might think they *must* shoot everything in this mode to get the best quality, and then complain to Sony that footage from this camera chokes. I mean, we saw with the GH2 that the camera was capable of much higher bitrates than the firmware allowed, but at some point it got a little bit crazy, requiring memory cards that cost more than the body! At some point, they have to just make a call regarding what's "worth it".Unlikely. Most Sony models shoot 1080 at 50 Mbps with the help of XAVC S.
This Sony looks like another great camera from the specs and promo vids. That said, how many times has this scenario played us for fools.
I'm hoping this time is different.
Sony could be in the holding pattern for their mid-to-upscale market products at this juncture. Their existing models - FS7, A7R/SII - are selling so well, they're not interested in upsetting the apple cart and may have to wait until their cinema line (F5/55/65) is updated first. From the technical point of view, Sony can easily make an A9 (mirrorless) or A99 MKII with an oversampled 4K, sufficiently high dynamic range, a pro codec and the required feature set to make a higher end camera virtually superfluous for anything but the high budget features. Moreover, they can easily make it for under $5,000 and I don't think they want to move there just yet.* Call it however you like, but a $1300 Sony "a7II-body-with-a6300-sensor" makes sense to me...
There's no headphone jack.I'm curious to see if you can control and monitor the audio on camera.
There's no headphone jack.
I could possibly live without a headphone jack if there are audio meters. Plus don't the sony audio atachments have a headphone jack?
