Something new discovered!

I have found out something new about Panasonic's operating system.

When your DVX 200 "sel/push set" button decides it doesn't want to scroll anymore you are completely screwed!

Just stuck with 'Icon" setting and can't access other functions and such variable WB or gain.

Oh well, lucky that my invoice is dated 27/10/15, I am one week within the warranty!

Cheers,

Vaughan

Noticed mine lagging recently while out shooting, but it usually catches up. Extremely annoying. How long did the repair take?

Actually I did notice mine lagging for the last few times I used it.

I'm just really glad I tested it before I went out on a job, as I don't usually take a spare with me to record dance concerts. Lucky!

I left a message for the Panasonic Technician in Melbourne but had no time to follow it up over the weekend.

It's tomorrow's (Monday's) job.

Cheers,

Vaughan

Mine died when the camera was only a month old, Panasonic (UK) replaced it with a 4 day turn around. Just hope it doesn't happen again!

I doubt very much that there can be any "maintenance tips" as this scroll wheel and switch appear to be defective components. One can only hope that this problem is limited to a relatively small number of cameras and that Panasonic have replaced it with an updated part. The number of posts that came up rapidly here unfortunately appears to indicate that this is more widespread.

I think Panasonic might be onto this, as in the Maintenance menu I seem to remember there is an item called 'Thumbwheel turns" which may be monitoring how many times the wheel is being used.

As my camera is in for repair someone may be able to verify this.

Yep...it's called "JOG DIAL". Mine says "000118T".

What were the steps taken to get this fixed? My warranty is going to be coming up quick, guess I should look into getting this situated.

Eeeek! My replacement menu dial switch block repair is going to take 2 -3 weeks, right in the middle of our dance concert season.

I've asked them if they can air freight it from Japan!

Cheers,

Here in the UK I had to create a user account to register my extended warranty which promised a 5 day turn around for repairs. When the jog dial went wrong I logged in and ordered a repair on online. They gave me a pickup date on the same day, collected it by carrier 2 days later and returned it within 4 days repaired. I was absolutely amazed by their efficiency. The repair report said that they replaced the jog dial switch. UK firms aren't necessarily known for their swift response! Hence my surprise. ( Anyone know why the emojis don't work? ) So sorry to hear about your lengthy wait!

I found this concerning, though I haven't experienced it myself. I've traded two cameras for one DVX200 in order to make those jobs where I need to travel by train easier to handle so no back-up now and I need the DVX200 to be ultra-reliable. I've tried to stop using the jog/shuttle wheel after reading this.
TIP: I think, (do correct me if I'm wrong) that pressing the wheel is the only documented way to clear the headphone level after the jack has been inserted. MY workaround is to press menu twice to clear.

My camera had the same issue with the scrolling button.
The zoom ring is squeaking.

I am using Panasonic cameras since the DVX100. The DVX200 so far is the most problematic camera I had. First of all it was far from ready when it was realeased.
With the Firmwire 1.81 it arrived to a state that it is good enough. Still they need to solve the NR Control issue (with the ghosting effect), but hopefully they will.

Sorry, but what NR Control issue?

Pressing menu once works for me. Or, is it twice? I wonder what other buttons might work...
