Look, there are no hard and fast rules (other than: No Politics, No Porn, no Personal Attacks). Other than that, the mods all have discretion. One mod may find something acceptable, and another mod nukes it. That's the way it goes. And Jarred can overrule all of us. That's the way it goes. And all the mods have become concerned with how out-of-control, locker-room, grade-school things have gotten at times. And we will be more aggressive in moderating things in the future, to keep this great forum from veering off track.

For the most part, if someone conducts themselves as if they were in someone's living room, rather than a locker room, we'll all get along just fine.
 
well, i'm screwed then, because there's porn, politics, religion, AND personal attacks in my living room. :grin:

I'm glad to hear that because locker rooms have always made me kind of uncomfortable... something weird about showering with other guys.

I much prefer the 'living room' analogy.

oh, and another for the record....

i dont even care that my post was deleted. i didnt even realize it until i read this thread. in fact, funny as it was, i could see how some may have found it's light-hearted humor offensive.

i wont apologize for it, because as i stated earlier, i have read far worse here before the FCC started monitoring what we write.

Mods keep on modding. clean up the streets. keep a light on. but the cafe is for all the fun with our friends we've made online here, and the other sections of DVXUser i agree should remain on topic.
 
That's pretty much how I feel about it. There are 10,000 members; no matter what, 4,000 aren't going to like what we do to moderate the place. So, we're going to do what we feel we have to do to keep the level of discussion professional and adult. It may not sit well with everyone. But there's not too much we can do about that.

Which was yours? The coffee thing? That deletion was just a knee-jerk. If it had been a waiter, no deletion. If it had been a woman and a woman, no deletion. If it had been a woman jumping a man, no deletion + cheers from the peanut gallery.

But because the filmmaker used the most common server gender, and the most common going-ballistic-before-their-coffee gender, all of a sudden it is violence against women.

Ah, if only the filmmaker hadn't drugged and hypnotized that poor actress into doing that part, none of this would have happened.

But at least now Folger's won't have a reason to not to buy a banner ad here.
 
One of my post got deleted. There were no politics, no porn, and no personal attacks.
It was a productive post, many opinions that were worth while.
The polotics are going on behind the scenes with this site, its moderators, and the site supporters. My post stated I was jumping the vegas ship and going back to premiere pro and why. Nothing hostile, just a simple discussion. My best guess is mr. spot himself had a problem with me talking that way about vegas. Said something to the moderators, and bam, post deleted. Star struck you guys are? Anyways great site, people just need to learn not to power trip and politic where its not needed. Course I could be wrong. Heres a good idea.

If a thread is deleted and it doesnt fall under the "delete criteria" SOP should be to let the thread poster know why.
 
If a thread is deleted, it might be a good idea to delete all posts and replace them with a quick reson for deletion, then lock the thread. This way it doesn't just mysteriously disappear and the reason for deletion is clear to everyone as a learning experience. My 2c
