Some video from MY dolly I just finished!

I made pretty much the same setup as hudson but I used rollerblade wheels cause there cheaper and come with bearings and may be a tad smoother. Its hard controlling speed though with these things. Plus you need very sturdy tripod legs (which mine ARENT!) OH ya, and it cost me $126 total and about 4 hours of work!
Its dimensions are 2x4 and fits perfectly through a doorway. It weighs about 25 pounds and the dolly, 10 foot of PVC pipe and my camera & lighting gear all fit in my little jetta.

Check it out:

BTW I havent put handles on it yet and was pushing it by the tripod

Yeah!  That was great!  Wow.  Totally stokes you to see it huh?  Very pro looking.  What a great tool to have!

BTW - Love the imagery and coloring.

Not sure of the build but the pipe for my handle was like $15.00. Check it in the video if interested. Makes a solid nice handle.

Well, what the dollies really need is a pulley system (a bit like the old-fashioned clothes-lines that used to hang between buildings in the old neighborhood), one pulley at each end of the track, with the rope going down the center and attached to the dolly.

A properly geared crank on the rope will allow the dolly to be moved smoothly, not relying on the uncertainty of someone just pushing it.

:)

I like :-)

Do you have an instructions sheet / how to build sheet that you downloaded?

Sweet! Nice job Barant!!! And that is definitely the feel-good ladder movie of the year.

I have printed your photos and will have a metal shop make the dolly tomorrow.  Wait, is yours patented? Ahhh who cares, your lawyers can't touch me!!!  ;D

Re: Some video from MY dolly I just finished!

Damn. I need to make one. Both you and Hudson are getting really smooth Lynchian moves out of those. :)

Re: Some video from MY dolly I just finished!

mind if i ask what camera settings u used and what program to edit, in my oppinion it looked very much like a movie, i wouldnt say film because its kinda goofy in my mind to even try to turn and match new tech to look like the old strange film but i think what i want is for the same feeling of suspension of dis belief, the ability draw an audience into the story line and the look of cinema.

Re: Some video from MY dolly I just finished!

thanks guys.  Heres the link I basically used: http://www.solutioneers.net/cinema/diyprojects.html

I just changed the dimensions to 2x4 feet and used rollerblade wheels. TAKE MY ADVICE and use blade wheels from sport chalet because you get 8 wheels AND bearings for $29.00. (You need 16 wheels total) Thanks for the "movie" comment. I edited in Vegas IMO the "cinematic" look is achieved by a few things.
1: lighting & 24P
2: Camera movement
3: Sound/Score

Barant,
What a great project! Nice work, man.
Watched your vid four times and then deleted it, but I swear I could still hear the haunting music coming from the speakers over and over - VERY Strange. Did you create the audio yourself too? I want it - Please!!?

Re: Some video from MY dolly I just finished!

Thanks. Yes I created that "score" (if you would call it that :) ) in Reason 1.0 for a short film I made. Its 16 Megs and I dont mind if you use it, but I dont own much webspace so let me know how you want to get the file.

Barant,
Very nice work. Very cinematic and spooky. Did you use anamorphic adapter or in camera letterbox?
