Some Sloppy Seattle Night Fog Footage

well, I wish I wasn't so lazy, this is a rush job of some test footage I had laying around from one foggy night in Seattle. I don't know shiite about CC and for some reason the pans look a little choppy (coulda been me as it was cold as heck that night, but I wonder if something in the render/capture settings, or playback that could cause that... *sure, blame your jittery pans on the software!)

Cheers.

Your footage is awesome... Very easy for me to forgive any jittery moments, being that I was so focused on the scenery... The music was a perfect fit... I can totally see this as the opening for a great serial killer type movie.

Glad you said something, Shawn... I had no idea the trailer wasn't working any longer... I'll have to find out what's going on... I had it on putfile, but It always seems to freeze up halfway through. I'll keep you posted... Once again, great work.

This looks really nice Shawn. Gotta love than fluid miller huh? I think the only way to get any smoother moves would be to attach an extension pole to the existing tripod arm that way making the motion super fluid and slow. I really like the pace of the movement and the composition of your shots. Did you compose the soundtrack as well? I really like all the reflection shots, but my favorite is the electric tower with the dense fog. It's easy to imagine a black figure walking out of the fog towards the camera.

Hey Kevin, long time, what you been up to, any projects or footage you want to share?

Well, regarding the pans, I have to be easy on myself, I mean it was like 1:00 in the morning, cold as heck, and I just jumped in my car and drove around Seattle and West Seattle and shot away without any retakes; but that idea about the extension, is that for real, people really do that? Interesting, I'll have to check it out.

Sound: Yeah, those are from my collection of pieces I hope to someday put in a film or actually build a scene around the music (not the way most people create a film, but I get inspired that way!)

I like the tower shot most too, and the boat looks cool, but not sure that it evokes any real mystery or?

So, I'd love to hear what you're up to, any projects going on?

" but that idea about the extension, is that for real, people really do that? Interesting, I'll have to check it out. "

Well it's gorilla, but heck yeah. A 2-3 foot pole conected to the tripod arm should do the trick. Just use a couple cheap home depot clamps. It's gives qite a bit of extra leverage and makes the pans 2-3X more slow/sensative.

It's the same idea as conecting a tiny wooden dow rod to manual zoom knob to make your zoom way slower than the factory slow zoom. Another trick is to wrap a string around the zoom ring and pull on it real slowly.

"I hope to someday put in a film or actually build a scene around the music (not the way most people create a film, but I get inspired that way!)"

As long as the inspiration comes from somewhere. Some people cannot create anything without copying another persons work. I gain tons of experience from other peoples work, but always try to make it my own.

"So, I'd love to hear what you're up to, any projects going on?"

Check your PM.

very nice footage. the docks were amazing. the composition was great and the music fit well. great work.

Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to check it out!

I watched this today at the office; super cool, pleasant, mellow. Nice job. (Are you on a MAC?)

What was the score?

thanks John, actually, I was kinda hoping (and nervous) that I would get reprimanded about CC, but in all seriousness, if you have any thoughts on that note, I'm open to suggestions.

I'm on a PC.

The music was all my own, hope you liked it.

the only thing I have to say is... HEAT. 8)

most of these shots looked awesome, and the colors, as well as the location and music, really gave a HEAT vibe. good stuff.

Hey Lawsuit, thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it. So, by HEAT I presume you mean the movie? (If so I'll have to go back and watch it).

Hey, I checked back on some of your posts and you posted a grab from a short horror flick that looks very moody, like my 'Seattle Fog' stuff, was that natural fog/mist in the air? Shot in Ohio?
