Some PP tests w & w/o grading

This is with the new C100, I cant fix the title of the thread.

Just a few quick grades and the ungraded versions as well.
I know the grades are a bit much but it is just to see how much you can push the grade.
These were shot with a 24-70 f2.8 L v1 (river shots) and a 100-400 f4-5.6 IS L (strawberry field).
ISO was 400 Manual wp set to 6600. The one shot auto focus can be useful, but don't completely trust it.
You can download the 1080 (P30) file, it has been compressed by FCPX to 22mb/s.

Original was shot at 1080 30P 24mb/s.

I really am happy with the picture quality, I will be doing more tests with NanoFlash and Ninja soon, as well as some studio shots.

Interesting. It seems when you change picture profiles, you will have to adjust ISO. Otherwise you lose details in shadow areas.

Thank you for this test footage.

The camera resolve sharp crisp images. Some noise is in the shadows but that looks like Vimeo compression. Cant wait until Monday to get my hands on the C100.

Interesting that the camera offers a log look with the AVCHD codec. How hard can you push grade/saturation until the sky starts to get banding? Blues seem to always go first.

Thanks Olaf, Looks great. How have you found the LCD's quality?

The EVF is not great but usable.
The LCD is bright and needs a shade for sunny situations.
I am experimenting with 5" Marshall, SmallHD DP4 and an Alphatron. I am trying to come up with a sensible compact rig both on sticks and on the shoulder.
You certainly can use the camera as is but it can be a challenge to focus. And it is light and small.

So far I would definitely recommend this cam at $,6500.00 street price it is a bargain. Way better then the 5D's for video. ND's unlike the FS100, and a fantastic picture right out of the cam. Kevin is sending me a Ninja 2 to try out, it is supposed to do the pulldown. I already have a Nija 1 on loan, I will be using that and my NanoFlash tomorrow for some compares. But I must say that even the native 24mb/s looks very good and you can see that I messed with it in post quite a bit in the CC samples, and imho it held up very well.

BTW my favorite dealer now has these in stock, www.accessavnh.com. Kevin is a great guy he has always helped me out and usually gets me the new cams pronto. If you are in New England you should check them out.

Ah I see. Well one more reason to use C-Log then :P

Just to clarify (in case you don't know, Kyle), "Wide DR" and "C-Log" are different things in the C100. They are separate gamma settings you can choose in the picture profile menu, and they behave very differently. From what I've seen, "Wide DR" is good for use when you want a bit extra range, but might also not be doing much in the way of post color-correction. "Cinema" or "C-Log" (to my eye) absolutely has to be color-corrected in post.

Unless I'm missing something.
