Some Composers.

LoL. Sweet. Look at all the composers suddenly jumping over here.

That's awesome. Score ten points for Norm posting over there.

Welcome, everyone. Thanks for taking the time to let yourselves be known.

Golly, even got the founder of V-I to post over here! That'd be like Jarred posting over there offering up DP services & such.

It's incredible to see two different forums/communities connecting like this.

Anyone know of a really good FX/CGI community we can tap into for this festival as well?

We could try Cgtalk.com - it's like DVXuser.com but a lot bigger and all about CG/art etc. I've recruited members for a few projects from there before.

-Chris

Hmm, good one Chris. But they charge to join, don't they (thought I remembered you saying that once)?

Also, Chris, you're the one that kind of started this forum cross pollenization back for the sci-fest ... so thanks for the idea! You're kind of the grand-daddy of it!

Oh, no, but I did hear someone say that they did charge to join. There's another service which is part of CGtalk which isn't free (its for artists) but as far as I am aware the forum is free to register. I can always make a post there, I have an account and know quite a few members.

Make a post there, and have them post under the Hero fest thread.

Then later on, Maybe Jarred can make an outsource composer VFX thread/separate forum for future reference? Something like that.

This is friggin' Awesome! All of V.I. and AMS forums are coming on over!

If you filmmakers out there can't find one of us composers to do your film, you a) really suck. b)aweful social skills in communicating with us c)just plain retarded. (or mentally challenged to be correct)

So much talent here that's for sure. Definitely hit up CGTalk or www.3dtotal.com Its basically the same core group of people just spread through a few boards.

Niah,

Welcome to DVXUser.com. Nice music, you should really get a project here with that!

I really encourage you to get a website though - team up with a web designer, maybe someone starting their portfolio or something (you could get it for free). You'll find you'll get a lot of people commenting on your music, and more projects will come your way!

Good luck and again, welcome to DVXuser.

EDIT: Just started working on a new demo. Any comments so far? http://www.chrishurn.com/Dust.mp3

Chris, great dessert/Arabian sound. Nicely done!

Frederick Russ, awesome work. VERY cool to see some of the work you've scored for (i.e. THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, etc.)!

Niah, wow!

Film makers are going to have a TOUGH time deciding who to work with, but looks like there won't be a shortage of composers! :)

Thanks, Envision.

As someone mentioned earlier, we should defenately make a sticky thread with all the composers, names, samples of work etc. so filmmakers can look through and choose one.

-Chris

Thanks Norm,

Just a quick introduction. Nice to find a community of film makers!

My name is Paul Thomson, I am a London based composer, you can check out some of my credits at IMDB Paul Thomson and some of my work for commercials at my website

Also, some quick mixes to listen to: winter olympics 2010 commission and some other stuff

I have also produced records for East West (Atlantic), Warners, Sony BMG and Virgin. I would love to collaborate with talented film makers.

Look forward to meeting you all!

Cheers

Paul:)

Thanks Envision for your kind words.

You know, I'm loving the idea of having both our communities join forces. Who knows what can happen when you bring talented film makers and talented composers together. Your forum rocks! At VI we're composers, audio and music guys, but seem to have the same basic goal just different approaches (audio/visual). Who know? It would be relatively easy to construct a large team of audio and sound professional for just about any film project you might have in mind.

If you're essentially interested in having a particular genre or style and need an unbiased and pro opinion to help deciding which composer to pick (we have many) drop me a line at frederick@vi-control.net and I can recommend either individuals or for bigger projects, a team - from excellent midi-mockup artists to driving rock backbeat to full scale 88 piece symphony complete with arranger, conductor and recording team plus a custom score that mirrors John Williams (yes I know guys who are capable of this).

Let me know :)

Best,

Frederick Russ

Nice looking forum!

I'm a composer that visits Vi-Control thought I'd introduce myself.

If anybody would like to hear my music they can contact me at joseherring@yahoo.com I'd be happy to send some clips. Right now my website is still being worked on. It's only partially up but there are some clips there. The site is www.jherringmusic.com

Perhaps we should start a music section on this forum too.

Best,

Jose

Great to see more composers coming over.

Someone really needs to get on a VFX/3d forum now and do the same thing. Banding all three of these elements together can be a really good thing.

And oh yeah, I guess this time around there really should be ( like last time ) mention of best composer. With all the new people popping up, it'll be a good thing.

:cheesy:
