Yeah that lens is.....nah not going to go there :). Seriously, it's a great lens to have in one's camera bag and a must have if someone is considering vintage glass. Nice clip!

Yeh i luv handheld but its def not for everyone. Just pointing put that its different from microjitters which personally is disturbing for me. But yeh i just grabbed the shouldermount and shot sumn for people who may be on the fence about getting this lens.

Lens sure is pretty...hey Perrone...do u have anothing shot with your Pre AI glass? would luv to see.

No one should be on the fence about this lens. One of the best 50s ever made. I shot my first stuff tonight with the Fujinon 55mm F 1.8. Best bokeh of any lens I own I think...

I paid $35 for mine. I see them regularly for $30-80.

Wow Perrone..I'm on my phone and still those look pretty.

I got my supertak for $90...auction started at $70.

man i was close to buying this lens in NY for 60 bucks but when the guy opened the lens the blades were rusted... bummer!

the spotmatics i found are sold with the 55mm/1.8

update: thanks for the tip i found one!

you need a m42-EOS adapter to use this lens

I use the Kawa adapters off EBay. I've been VERY pleased with them. I have both Nikon F to EOS and M42 to EOS. Dead simple. Nikons are $15.99, M42s were $6.99 I think.

I also bought Canon EOS lens backs from KEH. $20 for 10 backs. They are used, but look new and perfect. So I buy one adapter per lens, and put a new lens back on it.

Done and done!

Glad you found one. That's how I scored my Super-Multi-Coated (S-M-C) Takumar 50mm 1.4. Found it in a swap shop attached to an old Spotmatic and got it for $50. For some reason when a person is selling a still camera, they have a blind spot towards the value of their lenses.

For the same reason you find guys ditching the kit lenses on the current HDSLRs. It's the freebie thrown in. Those used to be 50mm, now they are short/normal zooms.

Only difference is back then, they were actually made well.

What adapter are you guys using for these bad boys?

I use a fotodiox m42 to eos adapter. Think it was $12. just screw it on and thats it. As Perrone said....get some canon backs for the lenses.

Oh and another tip. you have some yellowish glass in some of the lenses because of the radioactive(wont harm you) material used in them. To get rid of that u can place the lens in the sun and wrap the back lens element with foil so it will reflect and hit the lens again. the UV rays will significantly reduce or totally eliminate the yellowing. Some people report a week of exposure...some 2 weeks..i guess it varies case by case. you can use uv lights also but they say that takes longer plus the sun is FREE. Mine was already UV treated by the seller :)
