Solgor 300mm to GH2 Problems

I just bought a solgor 300mm 5.5 lens and an M45 to micro 4/3 adapter. It's a screw on mount that doesn't screw on all the way when I use the adapter, but seems to fit right. Problem is it won't focus at all and I can't see any change when I adjust the aperture. Any thoughts? Thanks.

There are several things to consider. Firstly, if the adapter does not screw on all the way then what you have is actually a macro lens, because the optical distance is greater than it should be. So you might try if you get a sharp image from much closer range than the minimum distance indicates on the focus ring. Secondly, I could not verify easily from the net whether that lens has been offered with a T2 mount. In that case the adapter will not screw on, because T2 mount has .75 mm thread rise and the M42 has 1.00 mm thread rise. Hence the incompability despite the same 42 mm diameter. You will need to check first whether the mount is certainly M42 and not T2 before trying to screw on the adapter.

Thirdly the aperture, if the lens does not have A - M switch, the aperture will only close when a small pin is pushed at the mount ring. The adapter does not provide anything to push this pin, so the pin would need to be fixed to pushed position somehow to allow manual control of the aperture.

Thanks Aki. I just bought a cheap T2 adapter on ebay after reading your post and doing some web work. It may be a T mount, but I'll roll the dice that it is T2. I can't find any small pin at the mount ring and there is no switch. I'll report back.

The Soligor is probably a TX-mount (a T-mount with aperture control), I had one of those before. It's compatible with the T/T2 mount. You can get the proper TX-mount, but it's not worth it, the T2-mount is fine.
