Soccer footage: Advice for better video next time?

I filmed this all in 60i and it doesn't look to bad from my perspective.

I was wondering is there anyway I increase production value on a shoot like this?

All I'm working with right now is a dvx100a and a fluid head tripod. I try to move around during the game, the problem is, to keep up with game I am panning faster than I normally would, and you can tell in my footage most of the shots were too fast..

I don't know how to get a smooth shot while keeping up with the game.

The only thing I can think of doing is slowing it down in post, but then I'd have a really long video...

If it's shot in SD why do you say watch in HD? looks like you lost some quality there. Almost looks out of focus in some parts. You should add names, stats, score to add production quality, or if you're trying to do promo you should get up as close shots as possible (nevermind the defender). Short fast cuts, various angles, less effects.

Too many filters/effects throughout. And avoid using someone else's music, I'm assuming thats why it got deleted from Vimeo.

Why don't you try getting a wider shot or different angle (next to goal) for the 2nd half of the game?

It also looks a little dark/crushed. Good job though.

Thanks Hazard, appreciate the criticism.

Nah I deleted it off of vimeo because the quality was terrible. I had changed the bit rate to 20,000 and the file exported as 800+ mbs so I couldn't re-upload to vimeo.

I just mean if you don't click watch in HD on youtube it looks terrible, I know it's just SD.

Yeah I'll try to get some different angles and shots, I'm shooting a tourney this weekend. It's just all I have to work with is a tripod, and the refs won't let me get close.

I won't use filters anymore I knew I shouldn't have used them so many times.

Next time I won't contrast it so much in post.

Thanks for the advice again, I hope you watch my next video and let me know if I did better, it will be edited and uploaded by sunday night.

I like it.
2 things about sports. The players (and Mommies) want to see themselves and the video viewers want to see way less!
I like the effects you put in just put names and info up at the same time. Would be cool.
Also yes the referres don't like cameras on the sidelines either. Make sure your image stabilizer is off when using the tripod. Stretch and do some yoga so you can get creative with moving your rig! Drop the legs down and lay on the ground....raise the tripod up as high as it gets....get on a bench....run around to the other side...zoom and and follow a group....follow the ball.
You have to decide on what you want in the end before you start. Want the whole game so players can learn from seeing themselves? Or want creative shots that are fun to edit with music and filters!!!?
Really good job I thought :)

I'm editing in premiere pro cs3.
and I export in H.264 codec and I run it through handbrake and convert into a mp4 file.

Thanks art appreciate your advice art.

I'm trying to be creative so I take that into mind when I'm filming a game. I can only be so creative though with one camera and a tripod.

I'm worried that if I take the camera off the tripod it will be to shaky...

The reason I go to the games is to film some of my friends and they want to see themselves later and learn from their mistakes, but I'd like to make an enjoyable video for them to watch, next time I'll lose the filters.
