So whos got their HPX 170???????

Mine arrived from Spec Comm today also (Luis and I are twins, we do everything the same way at the same time ;-)

That lens cover that Spec Comm includes for free is pretty slick, free battery, 16GB card, Barry's latest book, what more could you want?

The 170 is sweet, just playing with it here in the studio, loaded up my frame rate hacks, etc. Nice camera, I am very happy with it. First paying gig with it is Saturday, interviewing an author for a project for Paramount. Not bad, I will have paid for this camera in the next three weeks, I have already booked five shoots with it.

My 170 is coming from Spec Comm in 3 hours! I paid 3-day shipping and it is arriving 2 days earlier than expected, like overnight shipping.

I also have shoots lined up already.
 
I got mine on Monday (two days ahead of schedule) from Spec Comm. Been playing with it constantly ever since (got over nine hours on the clock already).

Fricken A! What can I say, the camera is sweet in every way... I find that the focus bar it pretty darn accurate. So much so that I'm almost ready to swear off the focus graph for nearly all but the most critical of situations. I'll probably still end up getting an external monitor (www.smallhd.com) but the on-board one seems to be accurate enough.

The ability to dial in custom scenes is awesome. IMO, the footage is spectacular, even without grading. Using 24Pn, the look has a smooth, organic, kind of 'creamy' feel to it. I'm really diggin' it so far.

I waited an extra eight months over buying an EX-1 and simply can't wait another day for the Scarlet to be released. This will give me maybe 8 to 12 months of pure filmmaking pleasure in the meantime...

mine arrived tuesday as well. wont get a chance to shoot with it until thursday either...

Yeah, this is worse than waiting for Christmas day. :) I've already unwrapped my present but can't play with my toy till tomorrow.
 
hahahaha - im soooo with you. i have to build two websites tonight and im finding it REALLY hard to stay focused!
 
I put a refundable deposit down on a 170 on August 9 with Abel Cinetech. They weren't able to tell me if they had a camera with my name on it that could ship this week, so I canceled, called Spec-Comm and they shipped yesterday via UPS 3-Day, and it arrived today!

My FIRST palmcorder after using 2/3" cameras for over 25 years! It's going to be a great
combination with my Letus Ultimate.

Arrgh! Well, I just sold my Letus Extreme because I need an adapter that can be stopped down past f5.6 without any grain. Shallow DoF was just awesome with the adapter but the footage just didn't match up well with shots needing deep DoF and stopped down accordingly. I tried matching shots with and without the adapter with equally less-than-optimal results.

I have high hopes for the SGBlade which I'm planning to purchase unless Letus comes out with an 'Ultra Extreme'; something between the Ultimate and the Extreme for under $2K. Spinning and interchangeable GG stoppable to f22, flipped image, easily adjustable XY axis and backfocus; drool, drool...
 
I finally got mine after a lengthy wait at the UPS Hub center because of a wrong address. Just a heads up for those who are picking them up, likely the box will be locked up because of the insurance value. It took the UPS guys a good 20min. to realize it was in a locked cage.

I love the smell of a fresh 170
 
Just received my HPX171E. I've had the HVX200E for over 2 years. First thoughts before powering up:

The packaging is very minimal, especially compared to the 200. I couldn't stop giggling to myself when I picked the camera up. It really is far lighter than I'm used to. However, I don't get a sense at all of it being flimsy or week. After initial reports I was expecting to have to half convince myself that I liked the design. But, I love it.

The one thing that I am let down by is not having a physical manual. Over here in the Uk we don't get the great extras of Barry's book, or the free card.

Right, time to get playing!
