So ive been treading this hvx200 p2 road for quite sometime now and hoped that the cineporter with 320 gigs was going to answer my prayers.
But alas no, not now ,so Barry having put the spx500 up onto my shoulder the other day at the broadcast live show in london [with a fujion j11 lens bolted on it noless]Im still devoted to following this p2 path with MAYBE a future upgrade to the 500 .So would you please send me 8x 128 gig p2 cards for my hvx 200s and also the 500 and make me very happy for when i need to shoot long form recording.
Ah that sounds better

Seriously though whats coming up out there that will hold 320 gigs or more???

Im going to say this straight up, never would I consider using the HPX500 if the p2 medium was still 4gb p2 cards. I think though with four 16gb up the spout so to speak it's very useable.

deebee what are you shooting that requires 320 gigs in one session? Long form "in the field/wilderness" doco ?

Some of our work involves live shows and also weddings.
Maybe the hvx wasnt the best choice in the beginning when we were looking at hd/hdv knowing that we did these sorts of events, but dvcpro hd won through over long gop compression and editing was a factor too.Nevertheless Im glad in many ways that we stuck with p2 but just imagine if we had those 128gig cards now at a reasonable price, how great it would be to shoot shows or weddings with a three camera shoot [2hvxs and 1 spx500]marvellous.
In time and not too long Ihope the cards will go up in size and down in price .
In the meantime Grass valley have invited me to a demo day at a football[soccer ]
ground in london next week and in the meantime I will be looking at the firestore carefully.
