Me live in Spain so I would like to know at what time should we be expecting news from the DVEXPO. Just to know if I will be able to get some sleep or not.

Apparently there is an "official announcement" due at noon. - I'm going to (dangerously) presume that's noon LA time. that would be 3pm EST, 10pm here in Finland (EET) 9pm in Central Europe (CET) and 8pm in the UK (GMT).

How about an official timetable from those duly informed?

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but what could they possibly present that we don't already know? I mean, except for seeing some new footage from the camera, what else could there be to know?

The CCD pixel count! Panasonic should just say, "There are a billion pixels on the CCD, but not all are active."

"hvx is now shipping" thats what i'd like to hear. along with, "and here is the new century optics ultra fisheye adapter with absolutely no vignetting!". and def, "hey mangler, here is an hvx for free!" but i should stop day dreaming in class and work on my compositing project. i'll check back after 3pm eastern.

Yes, very interesting pricing. The 1 card bundle charges you $450 for the 4GB card. The 2 x 4GB bundle costs $500 per card. And the "bulk" bundle with 5 cards is $650 per card. Am I really tired and did my math wrong? This is of course opposite the typical "more units = less cost per unit" structure.

If that math is right, then Panasonic is either socking it to the people with money or they're being quite generous to the little guy that's scraping just to get the camera alone. With most any other company I'd assume the first scenario, but I'm going to be a "glass is half full" kinda guy and give Panasonic credit for pricing down that 1 card bundle to help the more financially challenged into at least some P2 capability (which admittedly serves to hook the user on P2, but I digress). Coughing up the 450 bucks for that 1 P2 card would definitely be worth it and affordable to most users I imagine. With that bundle and an off-the-shelf firewire for dumping P2 recordings the independent film maker can at least get cracking. Not too shabby.

The single 4GB card is not too bad at $650.00. You could get 4 of 'em for the price of one 8GB card.
 
booyah- exactly what I said about them bundles a week ago... well, minus the P2 reader bundle which is the one I was eyeing. I think it still makes sense to have the P2 reader bundle as you could just shoot and dump right on set with the reader's 40G hard drive. But anyway, it's nice to finally see an official friggin' list.

Who is doing the math at Panasonic??
Something is not adding up, how much are these 4 gig cards??
 
I think Panasonic is offering the 4gig at a *very* fair price in the bundles... that's almost street cost for a 4gig 133x compact flash card.

So for me personally, 2 4gig cards or 1 4gig card and buy two 2.5" portable battery powered firewire drives to do identical dumps to for safety reasons? I'm leaning to the second scenario.
