I have now tried both apps and while I think they're both neat (Console needs an M2 mode severely), when I got everything set up to play with them I couldn't tolerate being tethered to my computer as much as I thought I could. I realized that what I really wanted to utilize them for was to...
A) Have a bigger screen area to focus with than the A1's LCD, and
B) Be able to utilize an M2 flip while we shoot.
Most of the other features aren't really necessary for me (except D2D recording on a rare occasion perhaps). That said, to solve problem A, I thought I saw someone mention some sort of hood for the LCD that had a large magnifier built in to emulate a bigger screen. Would that hood solve problem A?
As for problem B, I'm really at my wit's end. I'd like to get a spiderbrace so that I can walk around with the whole set-up, rails and follow focus and all, but it won't do me much good if I can't see the frame I'm shooting. I'm afraid an external monitor is out of the question budget-wise, but if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.
