So let me get this straight

the thing I'm not too keen on with macs is that everything costs more for them and when they do break, they become incredibly un-user friendly and are impossible to fix.

Why impossible? I will admit prices could be a lot lower, but like I said PC workstations aren't cheap either. As for the speed argument, it really doesn't matter. It will always be Mac vs PC until they finally become one.

Jcsoc, as opposed to Windows machines which become tremendously "user-friendly" when they break?

If my box won't boot, I don't really care what OS is on it. I have both Macs and PCs and can really go either way. I really like OSX (10.4 rocks) but I miss the lack of compatibility.

As for kernel panics, I've had like one in my whole life. Only had one or two blue screen of deaths, but I have far more minor crashes on the pc. Basically, people like whatever they want to like so they can justify owning it. Even people who own both are biased since they grew up with one or the other.
 
They are merging quickly. Jobs had to jump to intel chips to get any kind of notebook speed.

I don't seem to have any more crashes on the pc for since I left win 98. OS 10.4 is pretty stable as well.

I'd still take a mac to edit media, but just because of fcp.

From what I've read and heard, the heat issue on the old Apple chips was the biggest factor of all. I sure hope they get the new G5 Powerbooks out soon.

By the way, I can't believe this thread is still going.:)
