Hopefully no one has posted this...
So I sold the Canon 550D and desperately want to reunite with the GH1 and its kit lens...again

I'm in Australia, so I am looking at importing (because it is about half the price), where is the best deal (and one likely hackable*) place to get it?
I assume that if i contact them and specifically ask for a firmware check they will be nice right?

I've looked around It's pretty late to get the Bing Cash Back
(if it was some how possible not being in US)

But I'm looking at ordering from
J&R Music and Computer World
B&H
Adorama
provantage
BestPriceElectronics.com

all have some what round the Amazon price of
$1,179.88 US

which should I order from? is there some place i've missed?
should i just go for ebay taiwan?
should i wait for a used one on ebay... =_=

I just ordered from J&R because someone else posted they got theirs this week and it had the right firmware for GH13, I should get it on Monday.

Given that B&H posted on Youtube specifically promoting GH13 features of GH1 they have for sale I would (if I was in the market for one) not hesitate to place a call and inquire instead of ordering online. The most reliable of not very invasive methods seems be powering on the cam and checking body version. If version is <= 1.2 it should be GH13able. Or use the serial number method by reading up in the Serials thread.

I bought a body only at Camera Action House in Melb. 4 weeks ago au$899. I believe they still have stock.

GAh* just learned about customs fees!
is it wise to declare an item below its cost to get away with custom fees?
$300 or so less?

sorry guys never seriously imported something before =_=

Been there, done that. Not worth importing cameras over $1000 aussie

Gave you the best tip above Camera Action House. http://www.cameraaction.com.au/ You retain Full Aussie Panasonic warranty. Buy your accessories overseas.

A good idea is to use a forwarding service. They provide you a unique US address and will onsend to you at discounted FedEx or UPS rates (they ship huge volumes and pass on savings) for a low charge (e.g. US$ 8.50). See for example http://www.shipito.com/ who are supposed to be pretty good to Australia although I do not speak from experience - see forum on Whirlpool.

Shipito's warehouse is in Los Angeles so beware CA sales tax being added on.
