and i upgraded from a canon hv20 so i know most of the general stuff and how to work it except for the scene files :/
so if anybody could be nice enough to give some sort of description to what each effect the picture ( +/-)

i bought it second hand so unfortunately, no manual. and i have no money whatsoever. so this is my last resort
 
I feel for you Man.
the first day I got the dvx I didn't know anything about the scene file setting.
so my first post here was the exact same question you made.

some people gave me advise but Barry told me it took him 20 pages to explain all the setting in his book so I ended up getting his book.
If you don't have the money, just play around with it and have fun!
