So I have an issue on my hands, PAL footage.

My boss filmed some of his online show in Paris, and had someone shoot it. I shoot with a DVX in 4:3, 24P, and in NTSC (I live in NYC).

I recieved an email basically saying this:

just wanted to send you some info on the tape we shot in Paris. You can basically forward this straight to your editor, because it's all for his use:
-It's a PAL tape, so you'll need a PAL deck to capture
-It's shot on a Canon XL1 in 4:3 with a 16:9 squeeze, so please capture as such...

How should I handle this? I have no idea how to get PAL to NTSC footy, and where I can find a PAL deck. Should I just buy a cheap PAL handy cam? I'm super lost, and I'm not sure about how to fix the 16:9 thing for my DVX.

Any help would be awesome, thanks guys.

You can very likely rent PAL decks in the US, depending on where you are.
Im pretty sure though the XL"1" doesn´t have 16x9 squeeze mode (ok, maybe the XL1"s" had it...), it only offered 4:3 and letterboxed 16:9 if I recall, but it´s been years since I last used one.
The XL2 has native 16:9.
If you go the PAL handycam route, I´d also get a Canon, there have been playback issues with Canon footage in other cameras.
Good luck!

How much would renting one cost? I looked at PAL Handy cams and they are about 300$, which I woudl like to not spend that much, but I'm kind of in a bind and have a bout a week to fix this **** up.

Any ideas out there?

Anyone? I really could use the help, I'm gonna go to B&H this coming week to see if they can help me out.
