So I got AvidMC...

From my school, they just upgraded to the newest version so I got a hold of one of their 2.5 disks. Super stoked, I installed it and it runs better then Premiere on my computer (that shocked the hell out of me). I do have a few questions though:

1. Does MC not support scene detect durring capture? Or am I missing something?

2. How do you delete an effect from a segment? I cant find it...

3. Are there any other routes for getting footage into AE other then exporting it and taking up more drive space?

And finally, are there any good free tutorials on learning MC?

Already I like it alot more then Premiere, but I already do miss the CS3 integration...

1. no scene detection.

2. Park the playhead on the effect and hit remove effect. It's in one of the hamburger pop ups. Map it to your keyboard.

3. Assuming that AE and MC are on the same box you can export a QT ref. If you're exporting multiple clips on multiple layers all the time it might be worth spending the money on Automatic Duck. For my needs QT ref works fine.

If you are using a DV25 format, you can use scene extraction either during or afetr the capture process.

Go to your capture settings and look for Scene Extraction. Choose to create subclips, locators, or both.

Michael.

You can also do scene detection after capture (as MichaelP said) by highlighting the masterclip, and selecting bin -> DV Scene Extraction. The same pop up that Butcher described will pop up, allowing you to specify a bin, and the actions to perform.

Wait till you start playing with Animatte. And watch the video for Script Sync. That is one of those technologies that downright scares me.

Awesome. That stuff looks amazing! I'm building a new system since my old one has started to go poo pooie on me, and I have everything figured out except a GPU.

I was looking at this ECS 8600GT, but I wondered if any of you had any input. I dont wanna go too much over 100 dolla, and I need something that will work with Vue6 relatively well, but also work well with Avid.

I'd also recommend looking into a MojoDX for the not-too-distant future.
