So how much better is the C100 over the FS100?

C100 sensor is slightly bigger than FS100, not by much.

really? I couldn't see when comparing footage

edit: not doubting you, its just I worked with an fs100 this week and my eye couldn't see a crop change to the c300 (c100)
we shot canon primes on both cams

It's certainly been too long since i've gotten a nice new toy. and i gotta say, it just 'feels' right, this one

certainly some little things to nitpick about, but all are completely overshadowed by all the positives of this. the low light is just... well, simply absurd.

going into a noir production tuesday, i've got till then to turn it into a second skin, and lock in a profile. any c100/300 shooters have any profiles for shooting in nighttime/sharp contrasty light type situations? looking for a nice starting point since i don't have all the time to trial and error to my heart's content before tuesday.

The C100 should offer about a stop of DR over the FS100, that's a big point in its favour.

However the FS100 offers 1080p60, and equivalently insane high-ISO performance, so it's a bit of a toss up of needs really. Both offer tremendous image quality for the money though.

We are using the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM with both our C100 and C300. Nice lens with a great picture. Little lighter than the 70-200 MM F2.8 with a bit more zoom. The Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS US works well on the C100 with the EF-S zoom function enabled.

Do you take any quality hits with that EF-S zoom function? I assume it is a "must use" with all EF-S lenses?

Zone plates

Zone plates

I spent a little quality time with a C100 last week, and had a chance to grab a zone plate... The important thing is to view these images at 1:1 pixel ratio. In Chrome, I had to 'open image in new tab' then click to ensure I was getting the full 1920x1080.

those shots are interesting, unless some outer forces are not proper, it would seem the c100 has an edge in vertical resolves, and the fs100 has an edge in horizontal resolves. very minor anyways, both are lovely

+1 - no, + several million, on the need to see the full sized images to get the whole story. C100 takes it. Just to up the ante a bit...

and then we do this...

Again, the real story is in the full 1920x1080 images.
