So how do you preview footage

What does one use for looking at footage in the editing process and for color correction.
What should I be looking for? A monitor, LCD, TV?

Depends on how much you have to spend.

Best case scenario = an NTSC production monitor (assuming you're in Maine, or at least the states). Worst case = a CRT computer monitor. And much inbetween.

I'm thinking of getting one of those new 1680x1050 LCD monitors (20" or 22") from Dell, LG, Samsung etc. The prices are really low now compared to even a year ago. Should be good for monitoring HD video, better than the small window that I am using at the moment.
